President Maithripala Sirisena says the beauty of a town built according to the modern town concepts should be in the hearts its residents. “If not wishes and expectations of the people will not be fulfilled through those towns” he said.
The President made these remarks at the concluding ceremony of the World Town Planning Day held today (Oct. 31) at “Ape Gama” premises in Pelawatta, Battaramulla.
“Even in developed countries in world, the heavy population living in towns has become a difficult challenge. When there is a heavy population in towns, issues on providing required facilities to large number of people, health protection and education for children arisen. The same town which gives good things to society gives it bad things as well. We should pay attention on this in planning of towns”, the President stated.
