The Ampara district concluding ceremony of the Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu programme will be held under President’s patronage tomorrow

The final progress review meeting of the Ampara district Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu (Let’s Stand Together for the Country) programme will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at 10.00 a.m. at the Uhana Maha Vidyalaya Ground in Ampara, tomorrow (11).

The main objective of the programme is to provide swift and sustainable solutions for issues faced by the people.

The third phase of the programme commenced centering Ampara district on May 06.  A series of development projects covering 20 Divisional Secretariats in Ampara District were commenced to uplift the living standard of the people living there. The school children, adults and young generation, retired persons, public servants, NGOs, Voluntary Organizations and the people irrespective of racial differences participated with great enthusiasm for this programme.

The amount spent on these developments and service project is over Rs. 92 million. In fact, the beneficiary families are over 450,000. Another Rs. 130 million will be implemented in the future to develop the District.

We are jointly involved in the program and implemented by all Ministries and institutions in a single integrated approach to address the problems of the marginalized people and their problems. Solving unresolved land issues affecting the people of the Ampara District, providing necessary equipment and consulting for the cultivation and fishing industry, creating jobs and career guidance, constructing roads and constructing new buildings, issuing birth certificates and other issues. It was then taken action to be taken promptly by direct supervision.

Under the Presidential Secretariat, the main National Drug Prevention Program, Protect Children, Smart Sri Lanka, National Food Production Program, Dengue Prevention, Prevention of Kidney and Non-Communicable Disease, Environmental Protection, Empowerment of Elderly People and Special Needs it were more active in the district over the last week was implemented. The final program to be handed over tomorrow will also be beneficial to the people of the district.
