President Maithripala Sirisena requested the representatives of the trade unions to commit themselves to not to allow any room for conflicts within the state institutions.
He made these request during a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat, today (30) with the members of the trade unions of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA).
President Sirisena, pointing out certain unfortunate recent issues occurred within the government institutions, requested them to provide the necessary assistance to the government to maintain peace within the state institutions, in an environment where several political parties including the UNP attempting to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka in the international sphere.
President Sirisena further stated that it is the responsibility of the trade union representatives to prevent any form of violation within the government institutions.
Trade union representatives who shared their views during this meeting promised their full support to the new government in its future activities.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Gamini Lokuge, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, and other officials were present in this event.
