President Maithripala Sirisena met the Foreign Minister of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi today (Oct. 16) in the sidelines of the BRICS Outreach Summit.
The President commended the service rendered by Aung San Suu Kyi who led a long term struggle for democracy. He also invited her for an official visit to Sri Lanka.
Aung San Suu Kyi who commended the democratic transformation being occurred in Sri Lanka, expressed her satisfaction over the political journey of President Sirisena.
She also stated that she would act to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
She stated that Myanmar will offer a baby elephant to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.
