We must associate exemplary characters to achieve success in our life  – President

President Maithripala Sirisena said that we should choose persons as our friends who have knowledge, intelligence and experiences than us as well as persons with the capacity to guide us to the right path in our life.

He made these remarks participating at the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of the Ananda Sastralaya , Kotte, today (26).

When the President arrived at the school premises, the staff of the School including the Principal, J.P.B Liyangaskubura as well as the students, warmly welcomed the President.

Following the religious observances President Sirisena joined to pay tribute to the deceased war heroes before the War heroes’ memorial established at the school premises, with the participation of the senior tri-forces officers who are old boys of the Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte. The President also planted a sandalwood sapling in the premises of the School to mark this event.

The President recalled that how the relatives of the suspects blamed each other when 18 suspects have been convicted and sentenced to death by the Court for the first time in the Sri Lankan judicial history, and emphasized the consequences a person has to face as a result of association with unsuitable persons.  

The President said that the present younger generations are far more tech savvy than ever before, and we should understand that the world we expect could not be found in the technological equipment.

President Sirisena pointed out that the recent incident of assaulting a student in front a famous boys’ school was an example of dishonorable behavior of school students.

The President presented awards for students who excelled in performances as well as for the Old Boy’s of the School including Chief Minister of Western Province, Isura Devapriya, Former Mayor of Kotte Janaka Ranawaka and Western Provincial councilor, Jagath Kumara.

The Maha Sangha including, Wathuruwila Sujatha Thero, Minister Susil Premajayantha, Deputy Minister, Harsha de Silva, SLFP Organiser for the Colombo District, Rajika Kodithuwakku, staff of the school and many others participated in this event.
