The first flag of the “flag’s sales week”, organized to mark International White Cane Day was pinned to President Maithripala Sirisena today (Oct.04) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The flag’s sales week organized annually to raise funds for the Vision Impaired Student’s Welfare Fund and to make attention of the general public regarding the visually impaired persons.
President of the Sri Lanka Council of Visually Handicapped Graduates, Mr. Sugath Vasantha de Silva pinned the first flag on President Sirisena and the President also, marking the White Cane Day, presented a white cane.
At this event they presented a scroll to the President, listing out the problems unique to the handicapped.
