Henagama Central of Gamapaha District was made a national school today (05) under the guidance of the President Maithripala Sirisena.
Henagama Central College established in 1944.03.12 under the free education concepts of C.W.W.Kannangara was the 11th Central College.
The President who paid a visit to the school today was welcomed warmly by the students.
The President opened the plaque though which Henagama Central was made a national school.
Gampaha District MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Principal Wijaya Sathyajith, the staff and the students were present at the occasion.
Meanwhile, the President also opened a new building which includes a sports complex at the Mahamaya Girl’s College in Kadawatha.
A sports complex was seen as one of the biggest needs of the particular school to improve sports at the school and having recognized that the President laid the foundation stone for the building in April.
The Principal Pushpika Banduwansha and the staff were present at the occasion.
