President condoles over crash of Russian passenger flight

President Maithripala Sirisena expressed his condolences over the crash of a Russian passenger flight in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt resulting the tragic death of 224 persons.

Issuing a message of condolence, the President conveyed the sympathies of Sri Lankans to the people of Russia, who grieve over this terrible tragedy.

Following is the message of condolence he sent to President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin;

Excellency,

I was greatly saddened to hear the news of the crash of a Russian passenger flight in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt resulting the tragic death of 224 persons, including little children.

I wish to convey my personal heartfelt sympathies to Your Excellency, while the people and the Government of Sri Lanka join me in expressing our sincere condolences to the Government and the people of Russia.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the parents and siblings of the children who lost their lives, as well as the families of the adults who perished in this unfortunate plane crash. Our sympathies are also with the people of Russia, who grieve over this terrible tragedy.

Your Excellency, please accept my highest consideration.
