President declared open the newly constructed monastery at Nelumwewa Lankapura Raja Maha Vihara

The new monastery at Monaratenna Sri Dharmawijayarama Vihara and the reconstructed monastery at Nelumwewa Lankapura Raja Maha Vihara constructed under “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa ” programme were declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena today (18).

Monaratenna Sri Dharmawijayarama Vihara at first, President open the new building following the unveiling of the plaque.

The total cost of the construction of the monastery is Rs. 5 million.

President planted a tree sapling at the temple premises to mark the occasion.

Chief Incumbent Rev. Serupitiye Ananda Thero and other Maha Sanga and a large number of villagers were also present.

President also engaged in a friendly exchange of words with the villagers.

Then the President vested the reconstructed monastery at a cost of Rs. 2 million at Nelumwewa Lankapura Raja Maha Vihara .

The Chief Incumbent Rev. Matibandige Chandrawimalalankara Thero invoked blessing on the President.

Governors Peshala Jayaratne, Suren Ragavan were among the gathering.
