President instructs for swift measures to assist victims of bad weather conditions

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the relevant authorities to provide immediate relief to those who affected by the prevailing heavy rains and inclement weather conditions in the country.

President Sirisena, who is on a two day state visit to Seychelles has instructed the Minister of Disaster Management, Duminda Dissnayake over the telephone, to provide reliefs immediately to the victimized people, without considering financial allocations an issue.

President Sirisena has  further instructed the Minister of Disaster Management to continuously conduct the welfare programmes to provide necessary facilities including dry rations, drinking water, and health facilities  to the people that are in need.

The President Sirisena has instructed the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne to get the assistance of the tri-forces to save the people affected by flooding.

The President expressed his deep concern about the people affected by the bad  weather conditions, and extended his deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased persons.
