President Maithripala Sirisena obtained blessings of Maha Sangha in the Sinhala and Tamil new year visiting several temples yesterday afternoon (14).
The President attend in religious rituals visiting Vajiraramaya Buddhist Temple in Bambalapitiya.
Then visiting Most Venerable Rajakiya Pandhita Thrikunamalee Ananda Thero, the President engaged in a brief conversation where the Maha Sangha followed by the Thero chanted Pirith and conveyed blessings to the President on the New Year.
Then the President came to Dharmapala Temple, Mount Lavinia and visited Most Venerable Kotugoda Dhammawasa Uttaritara Mahanayaka Thero of the Amarapura Sect and obtained blessings.
Later the President visited The Chief Secretarial Prelate of Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagridharma Maha Sanga Sabha- Ven. Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Anu Nayake Maha Thera, and had a pleasant conversation with the venerable Thera.
The venerable Thera conveyed blessing for the President on this dawned New Year by Chanting Seth Pirith.
