The SLFP should be strengthened to defeat all treacherous forces – President

President Maithripala Sirisena says all who love the motherland must unite together to build the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) as a powerful people’s movement to defeat all the evil forces against the country within the next three months.

He made these remarks participating at the opening of the new Colombo district office of SLFP, today (31st).   

Steps have been taken to establish new district offices across the country under the restructuring process of the SLFP and accordingly this new office has been established at No. 65, Ananda Rajakaruna road, Colombo 10.

The President who was visiting the SLFP new office premises was warmly welcomed by Colombo District leader Mr. Thilanga sumathipala.

The new office was opened by the President unveiling a plaque and then he placed a special commemorative note on the souvenir book.

Speaking further, the President said that we are talking today not of defeating political parties or leaders, but about identifying and defeating the treacherous forces to the country.

In every political party there are people who love the country and there are people who are against the motherland think only of themselves, said the President and added that in this political journey it is essential to identify clearly the honest leaders and activists required for this purpose.

President Sirisena said that 2019 is an election year and a year which will establish a new government. It is the responsibility of everybody to prepare the SLFP, which is a people-oriented, patriotic party, said the President, and called on the people to extend fullest support to accomplish that responsibility.

The Mahsangha and prelates of other religions, the Secretary of SLFP Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Senior Deputy Chairmen Mr. Nimal Siripala De Silva, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, Mr. S.B. Dissanayake, Mr. Faizer Musthapa, Mr. Dilan Perera, Ms. Sudarsani Fernandopulle, Mr. Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Mr. Sarath Ekanayake, and the SLFP leader for Colombo district, Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala, and other organizers were present in this event.
