President Maithripala Sirisena says whatever the judicial decision he will accept it with honour and will take the future political decisions accordingly.
He made these remarks addressing a ceremony held in Polonnaruwa, today (09).
President Sirisena further said that he was not pleased with the power vested on the President, as an individual person, constitutionally and added that a country which has strong democracy, things should not be happen in that way, and expressed his confidence that he will receive an opportunity to work with a Prime Minister and a Cabinet of Ministers as soon as possible.
Furthermore, the President said that in a country where there is no Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers, he as the President of the country, fulfill his respective duties in an extremely responsible manner and with tolerance.
Expressing his views further, President Sirisena said that some section of the society is trying to define the current political crisis as a conflict between himself and Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe as well as an issue between political parties. Nevertheless, the conflict can be defined as an issue between the homegrown philosophy and philosophy focused on external forces. He also said that when implementing the independent and autonomy policy, the foreign powers are leveling challenge against this move.
He said that this is an issue which must understand by the people of this country, and expressed his belief that all the people of this country will take decisions on behalf of the motherland.
This ceremony was held at the auditorium of the Royal College, Polonnaruwa to distribute livelihood development equipment under the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ District Development programme.
Spending a sum of Rs. 294 million benefits were granted to 4500 beneficiaries.
The former Chief Minister of the North Central Province Peshala Jayarathna, the Mayor of Polonnaruwa Mr.Chanaka Sidath Ranasinghe and others participated on this occasion.
